
Mos Def took the stage this past weekend and put on a great show as usual. He performed The Ecstatic in its entirety front-to-back, brought out Talib Kweli for History and Respiration, then Jay Electronica graced the stage to rock Exhibit A and C with Mos, Kweli and Diddy on stage as his hypemen. The Ecstatic tour finally rolled through New York City last weekend as Governor’s Island became the home for Jay Electronica, Mos Def and co. for the evening. Jay wasted no time in bringing out his go-to producer and buddy, Just Blaze, to accompany him on stage for his entire set. This show was a perfect sampling of Jay Elec’s talent, as he wowed the crowd with many incredible acapella verses that allowed the audience to really absorb his lyrics. The wordsmith also performed quite a few unreleased songs, including a complete version of Dear Moleskine. We’re proud to present our exclusive recording of nearly all the songs he performed in his set.

Jay Electronica was one of the featured surprise guests at last nights installment of The Roots’ Jam session. This is one collab I’ve been anxiously waiting to come to fruition and it did not disappoint. He shredded the mic off the dome before obliging Questlove’s request to kick some of his rhymes. Jay is definitely one of the best new emcees to come out in the past decade and stay tuned for highlights of his set from the New York stop on the Ecstatic Tour from this past weekend.
