No one else celebrates the holidays and brings in the new year quite like the good folks at Okayplayer and The Roots crew.  B.B. King’s was home to the 3rd Annual OKP Holiday Jammy last month, which featured sets from the cast of Fela! The Musical, Blitz The Ambassador, Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew and of course, The Roots.  Special guests packed the venue and as usual, the show was phenomenal.  The highlights of the night were guest performances by Mos Def and Brother Ali, who rocked with The Legendary.  Here is our exclusive audio of Mos Def performing Umi Says with The Roots, and even going into some bars of 100% Dundee and Adrenaline (!!).  Next up we have Brother Ali taking the stage to do The Trap, The Travelers and freestyle with Black Thought while The Roots play The Preacher beat.  Robert Glasper, Casey Benjamin and a few other usual suspects help round out the band.

Brother Ali, who recently released his latest album “Us” (get that if you haven’t),  has been touring the country along with Toki Wright, BK One and Evidence.  They recently stopped off to rock the crowd in Louisville and luckily for us, there was a taper in the house to bring it home for the rest of the world.  Here is Brother Ali’s full set from the evening.  Setlist and download link after the jump.

Atmosphere and Brother Ali toured across Europe this past summer on their “3 The Hard Way” tour and put on a hell of a show.  Here is their full set (ok, its actually only 30 min of their set) from the Hultsfred Festival.  Slug and Ali compliment eachother perfectly, playing eachother’s hype man depending who’s song is being performed.  Hit the jump for the setlist and download/stream.

Here are two Brother Ali verses that are a prime example of why he’s consistently been one of the best on the mic for over a decade.  The first is an unreleased song which he performed at Highline Ballroom in NYC at the CMJ Showcase with Evidence and Little Brother joining him on the bill.  I have also included a video of another acapella performance of this song with additional verses from a couple weeks ago.  Next up is Brother Ali’s verse from “2nd Time Around”, a song he did with Wale which can be found on DJ Benzi’s The New Deal Mixtape.  This rendition is a hundred times more powerful live and is also backed by the live band, The Rhythm Roots All-Stars.
