
Mos Def took the stage this past weekend and put on a great show as usual. He performed The Ecstatic in its entirety front-to-back, brought out Talib Kweli for History and Respiration, then Jay Electronica graced the stage to rock Exhibit A and C with Mos, Kweli and Diddy on stage as his hypemen. Blackstar held a doubleheader reunion show in the heart of Times Square in NYC this weekend and tore down Nokia Theatre. The duo celebrated the 10th anniversary release of their classic album by performing their hits as well their popular solo material. The crowd was live, the vibes were good and hip-hop was most definitely in the building. Blackstar headlined the 2007 Black August festival, and with Common being one of the acts on the bill, it would be a crime if the trio didnt perform Respiration. So of course they did and it was pretty dope if I do say so myself. Check it out…. and yes, you do hear the “Move Somethin” horns for a brief sec… DJ fucked up at the best moment of the night… go figure.
