Soulive is known to bring out many guests at their shows, and back in 2003 at the Lion’s Den, Talib Kweli, J-Live and Wordsworth were in the house. The trio joined Soulive on stage for an impromptu jam session that lasted 20 min and the results were amazing.
As I was going through my archive this morning, I came across this song and realized that I have never heard it before, and as far as I can tell, is unreleased. Mos’ flow on this is crazy and I hope this is properly released at some point. His highly anticipated, yet oft-delayed new album, The Ecstatic, is set to be released on June 9th on Downtown Records. I can’t wait.
Prince did a string of great shows at the O2 Arena back in the summer of 2007, and at one of the concerts, Common made a surprise appearance, joining His Royal Badness on stage to kick a freestyle. An awesome, albeit unexpected performance.
Atmosphere and Brother Ali toured across Europe this past summer on their “3 The Hard Way” tour and put on a hell of a show. Here is their full set (ok, its actually only 30 min of their set) from the Hultsfred Festival. Slug and Ali compliment eachother perfectly, playing eachother’s hype man depending who’s song is being performed. Hit the jump for the setlist and download/stream.
The Foreign Exchange dropped by the Sirius XM studios in DC to bless an intimate crowd and radio listeners with a beautiful live in-studio performance. Backed by the talented full live band, Zo! & The ELs, and the soulful voices of Yahzarah and Darien Brockington on background vocals, this was truly a great set. Here is the entire performance, which recently aired on the Sirius XM show, Subsoniq (Hip Hop Nation, Sundays at 9pm).
Ok, well we're not really hiring, but are looking for new staffers who have an extensive live music collection. If you are interested, please email us.
