The Great Hangover tour is officially underway with Kid Cudi, Asher Roth, B.o.B. and 88 Keys. On Wednesday night, the tour stumbled its way into New York City to rock for a sold out crowd at the Nokia Theater. Cudi, who was average at best when I saw him live previously, absolutely stepped his game up and was great. His unique stage design is intricately scripted with a myriad of lights and video to create an often jaw-dropping and stunning visual backdrop for Mr. Solo Dolo. The visuals and lighting effects are all carefully synched with the beats and come together in perfect harmony with his style of music. This is easily reminiscent of Kanye’s infamous Glow In The Dark tour. Unfortunately, while I just hyped up the incredible visuals, I only have exclusive audio to offer to the masses. Its still dope, just keep in mind you are missing the full effect of the performance unless you see it for yourself. Here is “Heart of a Lion” (off his upcoming debut album), “The Sky Might Fall”, “Embrace The Martian” and “Day N Nite” (both the original and remix).

Ohmega Watts is most definitely one of my favorite hip-hop artists and producers on the scene. Definitely check out both his albums and his work in Lightheaded and most recently with Ragen Fykes. He blends colorful beats with live instrument sampling over gritty drums among his other signature tweaks that helped paint his own unique sound as a producer. He’s also honed his skills on the mic as well to be the complete package. Here is a nice little soundboard recording of an opening set he did for his Ubiquity labelmates, The Breakestra.

You heard it first on the Jimmy Fallon Show (see here if for some inexcusable reason you missed it) and now you can hear The Roots new funky single, How I Got Over, performed live at a recent show up in Minneapolis. Okayplayer recently reported that we will get the studio version soon, so be sure keep an eye for out for that. But before you start clicking that download button, I got just one question for you…. CAN I GET SOME HELP?!?

Fresh Daily made an appearance at The Roots Jam @ Highline Ballroom last night and tore it down. He spit a few bars, freestyled then traded verses with Black Thought as Riq Geez blazed through his verses from Hardware. I love that The Roots are down with the AOK crew, as Homeboy Sandman rocked with The Roots at The Jam a few weeks ago as well. All we need now is P. CASSO to come through to the $10 Bill Show. In case you aren’t familiar with Fresh Daily, check out his excellent mixtapes Winter Fresh and Tomorrow Is Today.
