Here is a hidden gem I uncovered recently- a rare performance of CL Smooth performing “T.R.O.Y” with a live band.  Do I really need to say anything more? Video of the performance is included as well.

I was digging through the crates today and came across some of my older live Lauryn Hill recordings and I almost forgot how great it is.  Its a damn shame she fell off the planet because her talent is undeniable, but people will remember her most recently for her concert fiascos over the past couple of years.  Still, we can remember the good ol’ days as evident in this performance of “Lost Ones” with her band from across the pond back in 1999.  I’d love to see her attempt a comeback, but I think thats wishful thinking at this point.

kanye

Kanye’s VH1 Storytellers taping finally aired tonight on VH1 after much anticipation.  Now I haven’t been a big fan of his 808′s performances so far, but he really stepped it up for this one.  The songs are way more organic with the band than previously before and the stage design is awesome.  Kanye also sounds a a lot better singing here than in previous performances.  I also have to give VH1 credit for not butchering the hell out of this in the editing room like they’ve been known to do in the past for broadcast performances.  This is definitely well worth the wait and you need to start downloading right away.
