
Common toured with Q-Tip back in ‘07 and at the NYC date at Nokia Theater, KRS One joined both on stage for a freestyle session. As you can imagine, it was pretty crazy to see the three trading verses off the dome together. Whether or not Common and Q-Tip’s new group, The Standard, actually release an album waits to be seen. D’Angelo and The Soultronics…. man, what an amazing tour that was back in 2000. Backed by Questlove, Pino Palladino and some of the funkiest cats in the game, this performance would put a huge smile on JB’s face. Pharoahe tore down the Highline Ballroom 2 summers ago with his band and had the crowd going crazy the entire night. Agent Orange is one of my favorite songs of his- the political word play is crazy and it sounds great with a live band. Check out the audio below…

Q-Tip joined the stage with The Legendary Roots Crew at their 2nd annual Okayplayer Holiday Jammy at B.B. Kings last month. The night was epic featuring a shit ton of special guests, including Pharoahe Monch, Estelle, 88 Keys, Talib Kweli and many others. Hearing Q-Tip backed by The Roots was one of the highlights of the night, so without further ado, hit the jump to hear “Gettin Up”.

Wale brought out Daniel Merriweather at the Allido CMJ Showcase at SOB’s in October and proceeded to jump into an impromptu performance of Mark Ronson’s “Stop Me”. UCB added in some go-go flair and the results were amazing.

Erykah Badu took center stage at one of more prestigious venues in New York City last year, backed by a great live band, featuring Chris “Daddy” Dave holdin it down on the drums.
